A adaptação cinematográfica do sucesso da Broadway, ‘Rock of Ages’ estreou no fim de semana passado com resultados decepcionantes.
O filme com Tom Cruise ficou em terceiro lugar nas bilheterias com receita de apenas US$ 15 milhões, o que o deixou atrás de ‘Madagascar 3’ [US$35.5 milhões] e ‘Prometheus’ [20.2 milhões].
‘Rock of Ages’ é descrito como uma história de amor contada com a música do Bom Jovi, Journey, Poison, Twisted Sister e outros artistas dos anos 80.
Uma das faixas que os fãs NÃO vão ouvir no filme é o sucesso do Skid Row, ‘I Remember You’.
O ex-vocalista do Skid Row, Sebastian Bach, atualmente em turnê para divulgar seu último disco, ‘Kicking & Screaming’, conta mais da história para Cristina Massei do site Sonic Shocks.
‘A real é que Snake [Dave Sabo, guitarrista] e Rachel [Bolan, baixista], que co-escreveram ‘I Remember You’, recusaram-se a licenciá-la pára o filme’, explica Bach. ‘Os produtores de ‘Rock of Ages’ queriam ‘I Remember You’ na peça e no filme, mas Snake e Rachel não gostam de dinheiro [risos]. Eles tem aversão a dinheiro. Eles preferiam não ter dinheiro. Eu não sei porquê – você pode entrevistá-los a respeito – mas essa é a verdade. A peça queria a música e eles disseram que não a queriam no filme – porque dinheiro é ruim’
A faixa foi o terceiro single do disco homônimo de 1989 do Skid Row e chegou à sexta posição das paradas estadunidenses.
